We are delighted to offer in the United Kingdom Belfast Computer, Apple and Mobile Phone Backup strategies & training courses in Belfast. We offer this service for business and consumers alike in our office on Ormeau Road or on site. As a Data Recovery business in Belfast we see many broken hard drives, USB pen drives and SD cards coming in and the cost to have data recovered can be easily several hundred pounds to get your data back. The cost of a solid backup strategy including hardware could be half of that.
Most people wait until it is too late and business data or personal pictures are gone forever. Some customers even get infected with ransom ware and their whole hard drive or data is encrypted. What we offer in every training course is a customize solution based on your circumstances including advise on hardware and tactics to keep your data save. I see many problems with people backing up their data in the cloud or local in their business or home. A backup is only when you have tested it. Most people simple backup over years and nether use the backup until they need it. The danger is that like PC’s, laptops and Apple Mac they can become corrupted over time and need to be tested on a regular base. Time Machine backups can give a lot of errors as well. Simply putting backups on a hard drive or USB sticks is a very poor strategy and causes problems in itself. You should ask yourself the question how save is my computer backup from theft, fire and flooding and mechanical failure? A 1 device strategy is a poor choice as well and with external hard drives now reaching 3 terabytes and more the data written on it is denser than ever and more likely to get damaged. Prices drop on hard drives and USB sticks and more data is on them than ever before. That creates additional problems and using a backup strategy that overwrites old backup data is not a good solution either. You wonder why and a good example I can give you is if you run a database such as Sage with a daily backup off your data. Databases can become corrupted over time and you only backup new data to a drive on a daily base but what if the corruption happened a week or month prior. By overwriting old data on a backup, you risk of taking on errors and cannot go back.
In such cases I would recommend to have a daily backup of new data and keep a full copy of weekly and monthly backups. That way you can go back in time before a corruption occurred and work from there. Saving Data onto a single hard drive isn’t a good idea either, what of the drive fails. A better option would be a Raid 1 setup. Raid 1 is a process in which you work with 2 hard drives and they mirror each other. They come with their flaws as well. A good example would be you have 2 hard drives mirroring each other. Let’s call them HDD1 and HDD 2. HDD1 is your main drive and HDD2 takes on a full copy of HDD1. But what if you delete data from HDD1 , HDD2 will mirror it and delete the data as well . A new problem but that’s why we are here to help with data protection training and courses. Data Backup training courses are offered to help you to understand backup strategies and get a better idea what solutions are on the market and how much they can cost. I like to train people on their own hardware if possible and I always prefer hands on training over theory. If you are worried your personal data or business data, feel free to contact us by phone or email and I would be more than happy to guide you through your options for training. Each customer is different and we do not have any affiliation with a company. The threat is real for any mobile, Apple or Windows device. Don’t wait until it is too late we offer cloud and in your business / home backup training. You probably have many more questions and I feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to give further advise and information on how we can help.
